Members of the Katelembo-Muputi society are up in arms over alleged mismanagement of the organization's finances, demanding a full audit of transactions since the current chairman took office.

The members claim that Sh10 million has disappeared from the society's accounts since the current chairman, Wilson Muema, also known as Muthungulule, took over after the death of former chairman Peter Kamba.

Allegations against Muema include making illegal transactions without the full approval of fellow directors, running a one-man show, and transferring plots to his name by arm-twisting directors to sign the transfers without the authority of members.

Directors who spoke to Weekly Citizen accused Muema of receiving Sh100,000 purportedly to facilitate a taskforce on the society, but the cash ended up in his own pockets since the taskforce had completed its work.

The members have also accused Muema of creating additional two zones against the law and nominating his friends to fill the positions for him to have full control of the society's happenings.

The illegal zones include Kasinga, filled by Muema's crony Stephen Nzioka, and Tendelyani, taken by John Mbole. Another alleged illegal director is Joel Wambua, who is said to represent Kyumbi zone.

The members have petitioned the commissioner of cooperatives to order the chairman to convene an annual general meeting, as the embattled chairman has thwarted any efforts to have members convene.
