Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has taken a significant step in enhancing its tax collection efforts by appointing Dr. Terra Saidimu as the new commissioner for intelligence and strategic operations.
According to an internal memo, Dr. Saidimu's appointment took effect on December 2nd, 2019, following an internal recruitment process that was open to all staff.
Dr. Saidimu, who joined KRA in 2004, brings with him immense knowledge, leadership, and technical expertise, having worked in various roles in the Investigation & Enforcement and ISO Departments.
The intelligence unit, under Dr. Saidimu's leadership, will be responsible for scrutinizing company accounts to identify and prosecute tax evaders.
Notably, KRA has faced criticism for its laxity in tax collection, resulting in a shortfall in revenue targets year after year.
