On November 26, a retired German soldier, Paul Topf, went missing from his home in Lungalunga, Kwale County. His wife, Neema Nyawira, claimed she had received information from his sister that he had been deported to Germany, where he was safe.
However, Kwale County DCI officials disputed this claim, stating that Topf's whereabouts remain unknown. They also revealed that the four men and a woman who took him from his home were not policemen.
According to the DCI, the signal of Topf's cellphone did not go beyond Mwambao Bati village within Shimoni. This contradicts Nyawira's earlier claim that five people, who identified themselves as immigration officials from Mombasa, had taken her husband and bundled him into an unmarked car.
On Sunday, Nyawira told reporters that she had received information that her husband was being held in Nairobi by immigration officials. Yesterday, Kwale County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said investigations were ongoing to trace the missing man.
Topf, 54, came to Kenya in 2012 and married Nyawira with whom he has a seven-year-old daughter. He was allegedly picked from his home last week.
