Kenya's U16 football team has advanced to the semifinals of the Copa Coca Cola Under-16 Africa Cup, defeating Botswana 1-0 in a closely contested match.
On December 3, 2019, at the M-Pesa Foundation Academy in Thika, Kenya, Mohammed Mbaruk scored the winning penalty in the 66th minute, securing a spot in the semifinals for Kenya.
The team will now face Tanzania in the semifinals, with Tanzania having defeated Uganda 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
Kenya's coach, Nassoro Mwinyi, expressed confidence in his team's ability to reach the final, stating, "We are not afraid of their high scoring in the quarters because we are determined to reach the final and we are looking to having a good game."
Tanzania's coach, Gerald Kapanga, also expressed his team's intentions to win the trophy, saying, "Before we came for this championship I made a promise to Tanzanians on behalf of the team that we will win the trophy and we are keen to remain true to our course."
