On Monday evening, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) rescued a minor who had been working as a house girl in Nairobi's Jevanjee Garden estate, Ngara.

The rescue was prompted by a Good Samaritan who shared the minor's details on social media and tagged the DCI, requesting their assistance after it was alleged that she had been turned into a nanny by her aunt, Ms Paula Kajuju Kainga.

According to a Twitter post by Asomah, the minor was being mistreated by her aunt, prompting the DCI to act and rescue the minor from her aunt, who was subjecting her to heavy duties.

As of the publication date, December 4, 2019, the minor was in a safe home, and her aunt was set to appear in court the following day.

The minor, who hails from Meru county, is currently undergoing the process of being reunited with her parents, who are expected to record statements with the police.
