Registering for Mpost in Kenya

Launched on 16th June 2016 by the Postal Corporation of Kenya, MPost is a virtual post office that enables any mobile phone user to have their phone act as a mobile post office. This means your mobile phone number can serve as a formal postal address.

The registration process for Mpost is straightforward. You can register by dialling 234# for Safaricom users or 89090# for all networks. The virtual box costs Ksh 300 per year.

Registering on Safaricom (234#)

  1. Dial 234# on your Safaricom line.
  2. Choose Mpesa products.
  3. From the menu, select Mpost – number 9.
  4. Choose 1 to start the registration process.
  5. Enter your ID number.
  6. Enter your preferred postal code, ensuring you choose the nearest one.
  7. A pop-up will appear, asking you to pay Ksh 300 to complete the registration.
  8. Once paid, you will receive a message with your Mpost address in the format 254712345678-00100, where '254712345678' is your phone number and '00100' is your area postal code.

For any inquiries or assistance, you can contact MPost at 0701701411 or email [email protected].
