Published on December 4, 2019, two police officers, Abdikadir Daiche and Ali Shukri Galgalo, have been detained for their alleged involvement in the carjacking and robbery of their colleague in Nairobi's Eastleigh area.

Corporal Christopher Samoei of the DCI Pangani offices sought the detention orders at the Makadara Law Courts, citing the need to search the suspects' residences for more evidence and to analyze their mobile phones for data extraction.

The two officers, attached to Muthaiga Police Station and Quarry Police Post in Embakasi respectively, were arrested by SPIV officers after they carjacked a Uber driver and bundled him into the back of his Mazda Demio.

According to Corporal Samoei, the Uber driver, who claimed to be a police officer, has been robbed of his car and is being held at the back of his vehicle with the registration number KCWQ 261D.

"There is need to search the residences of the two respondents to gather more evidence. They were arrested in possession of mobile phones which need to be forwarded to the Cybercrime Unit for analysis and data extraction," Corporal Samoei said.
