Disney's Frozen 2 has continued its reign at the top of the North American box office, thanks to a record-breaking Thanksgiving haul.
According to Exhibitor Relations, the animated musical earned $86 million in domestic theaters over the weekend of November 29-December 1, 2019.
Released just in time for the winter holidays, Frozen 2 made an unprecedented $124 million over the extended five-day Thanksgiving period from November 27 to December 1, 2019, as estimated by Disney.
This breaks the previous five-day record set by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in 2013.
Other notable releases over the weekend included Knives Out, a murder mystery from Lionsgate starring Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Chris Evans, which earned $26.8 million and has been hailed as a rare triumph for original content at multiplexes.
