A 23-year-old woman from Siaya County has been arrested for attempting to sell her 5-year-old son for KSh 2 million.
According to reports, the woman, identified as Sharon Achieng, was arrested at the Siaya Police Station after a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
It is alleged that Achieng had been trying to sell her son to a woman identified as Irene, who works as a security guard in Siaya.
Achieng claimed that she was being forced by her son's father to sell the child, and that she had been threatened with violence if she did not comply.
However, Irene denied the allegations, stating that she had only reported the matter to the police after Achieng had tried to sell the child to her.
The police have confirmed that Achieng was arrested and is being held at the Siaya Police Station pending further investigation.
