On December 4, 2019, a shocking incident unfolded in Siaya County, where a 23-year-old woman, Sharon Achieng, was arrested for allegedly attempting to sell her 5-year-old son.

According to area Assistant Chief Joseph Aloo, Achieng was found trying to sell the boy to a woman identified as Irene, a security guard in Siaya town, for a staggering Ksh.2 million.

Achieng reportedly claimed that she was overburdened by the responsibility of raising the child and that her husband had abandoned her.

However, the administrator noted that Irene reported the matter after getting suspicious, as Achieng is an orphan who has been living with her grandmother and has never been married.

Sharon Achieng is currently being held at Siaya Police Station, awaiting further investigation.
