On Tuesday, ODM leader Raila Odinga met with Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative report.

According to Waiguru, the two leaders deliberated on the spirit of 'handshake' and its intention to move the nation to a better future through the BBI report.

Waiguru shared her opinion with Odinga on what should be done to realise the recommendations by the BBI taskforce, including civic education across the country before collecting at least one million signatures to endorse the proposed changes.

She explained that the proposed Constitution draft would then be taken to the county assemblies, where at least half the counties would need to pass the bill, followed by the National Assembly, where 50 percent of those present would need to pass the bill.

Waiguru noted that a referendum would not be necessary, but added that members of the public are at liberty to decide what they want with the process.
