Published on December 3, 2019, a motion to oust Governor Waititu and his deputy was tabled in the Kiambu County Assembly by Ndenderu MCA Solomon Kinuthia.

The motion, which is set to be debated in the assembly next week, accuses Waititu of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

According to the motion, Waititu has been involved in several irregularities, including awarding lucrative tenders to companies linked to his immediate family and close relatives, in contravention of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act.

Additionally, the motion alleges that Waititu hired over 600 casual workers without the engagement of the County Public Service Board, only to later fire them.

Witeithie MCA Macharia Taki also backed the motion to impeach Nyoro, citing his alleged illegal seizure of the governor's office when Waititu was denied entry by the court, pending a Ksh588 million graft case against him.

Taki further accused Nyoro of abusing his office by trying to reassign duties of various county executive members, despite being in the office in an acting capacity.

“He is doing so without any written authority from any person or any court of law. Indeed, the courts have clearly pointed out to him that he cannot undertake any functions of this nature,” read the motion.

“He has been holding public meetings, including presiding over a Madaraka Day function as an acting governor without any express instructions from the Governor Ferdinand Waititu Babayao.”
