Kenya's road safety crisis deepened in 2019, with a staggering 3,225 people losing their lives and over 10,825 injured in road accidents, according to the latest statistics from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
Published on December 3, 2019, the NTSA data revealed a disturbing trend, with the number of fatalities and injuries on Kenyan roads increasing compared to the same period in 2018.
Out of the 3,225 victims who died in road accidents, the majority were pedestrians at 1,247, followed by motorcyclists at 660 and passengers at 644.
Among the injured, 6,183 sustained serious injuries, while 4,642 sustained slight injuries.
