On December 5, the Kenya Editors Guild will gather in Mombasa for its second Annual Editors Convention, themed 'Media Sustainability in the 21st Century.'

The two-day event will bring together local and international delegates to discuss pressing issues affecting the media industry, including 'Sustaining Media that Serves the Citizens' and 'Media Viability: Citizens or Profits?'

Speakers from various sectors, including the journalism profession, media business, judiciary, legislature, and international partners, will share their insights on the challenges facing independent journalism and potential solutions.

According to Kenya Editors Guild President Churchill Otieno, the Kenya Constitution (2010) has provided clear protections for media freedom, but economic and technological developments have disrupted the industry, threatening its sustainability.

Launched in August this year, the Kenya Journalism Review is a quarterly publication that aims to enhance discourses on the obligations and performance of media and journalism.

Published by the Kenya Editors' Guild, the Review was launched by US Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter at the start of the two-day Annual Media Summit organised by the Media Council of Kenya.
