Published on December 3, 2019, a group of over 100 employees of Spectre International Limited, a firm associated with Opposition leader Raila Odinga, have taken the company to court over unpaid dues amounting to Ksh.150 million.

The employees, who filed a suit at the Kisumu Labour and Relations Court, are seeking payment of their accrued monies dating back to 2017. According to the court documents, the workers are demanding Ksh.74 million as total salary arrears owed to them.

Additionally, the workers are seeking Ksh.36 million as total redundancy pay after their contracts were terminated in January 2018. They also want the court to compel Spectre International Limited to pay them Ksh.31.2 million that was allegedly deducted as payment to a provident fund but never remitted.

Furthermore, the claimants are seeking an additional Ksh.11.4 million as the total amount of monies deducted from their salaries to be paid to Portable Sacco Limited but was never done.

High Court judge Justice Nduma Nderi has directed that the matter be heard on March 2, 2020.
