On December 3, 2019, singer Akothee's health took a turn for the worse when she fainted on stage during the Luo Festival in Kisumu. Her manager, Nelly Oaks, has finally spoken out about the incident, revealing the reasons behind the singer's sudden collapse.

According to Nelly Oaks, Akothee had not fully recovered from her recent hospitalization at Karen Hospital, where she had been admitted about two weeks prior to the festival. Despite her fragile state, Akothee felt compelled to perform, fearing that her fans would be disappointed if she cancelled her set.

"She is in Kisumu still resting at the Acacia Hotel and trying to recover because she went into heavy activity just after checking out of the hospital and went straight into rehearsals she didn’t want to disappoint her fans," Nelly Oaks explained.

During her performance, Akothee's energetic stage presence took a toll on her body, leaving her exhausted and breathless. It was during the final seconds of her last song that she lost consciousness and fainted.

Fortunately, Akothee's team was able to get her to a car and provide her with the necessary care, including vitamins and juice, to help her recover. She was back to normal within a short period.

As for now, Akothee will continue with her bed rest until her doctors confirm she is ready to perform again. She has been recommended bed rest and will be heading to her home in Rongo to rest for at least two weeks.
