On December 3, 2019, a Nairobi police officer was taken into custody for allegedly defrauding Pioneer Assurance Company of Sh2.4 million through a false insurance claim.

The officer, identified as Domnick Lusweti Masengeli, made a false claim that he was involved in an accident and both his upper and lower limbs were amputated.

According to a police report filed at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Ms Florence Kagendo, in charge of Administration Police in Jogoo House, ordered a payment schedule from the insurance company after learning of the fraud.

Upon scrutiny, it was discovered that the officer had made the false claim, and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are now investigating the matter.
