Manchester United's Premier League campaign has hit a rough patch, with the team sitting ninth in the table, eight points off the top four and 22 adrift of leaders Liverpool.

According to reports, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his players that he will be sacked if they fail to beat Tottenham in their upcoming match.

The warning comes as Solskjaer faces increasing pressure to deliver results, with the team's performance in recent matches raising concerns about his ability to lead the team.

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly waiting in the wings, having been axed by the club just last month.

Pochettino has been linked with a return to management, and is reportedly the bookies' favourite to succeed Solskjaer if he is sacked.

Jose Mourinho, who succeeded Pochettino at Tottenham, returns to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, adding to the pressure on Solskjaer.

United chief Ed Woodward has previously spoken of his commitment to Solskjaer and the long-term project at the club, but Solskjaer's recent form has raised questions about his future at the club.
