On October 25th, 2019, Alex Mwakideu, the head of Radio at Milele FM, made a life-changing decision - to quit drinking alcohol completely.

According to Mwakideu, his mother had been urging him to give up the habit for years, and it wasn't until he realized she was right that he finally made the decision to quit.

However, Mwakideu's mother passed away just weeks after his decision, leaving him to cherish the memory of her influence in his life.

Quoting Mwakideu, 'Imagine niliwacha pombe kabisa (I quit drinking completely)... I did it for mom, the last day I had a drink was the 25th of October 2019.'

Despite the challenges he faced, Mwakideu has managed to stay sober and has even found new ways to have fun with his friends, opting for hot lemon or plain water instead of alcohol.

His friends have been supportive of his decision, and Mwakideu has been open about his journey to sobriety, using it as an opportunity to pay tribute to his late mother.
