At least 132 people have lost their lives in the recent floods caused by heavy rains in various parts of Kenya.
Published on December 3, 2019, the government has since provided relief assistance to help restore the livelihoods of those affected.
Government spokesman Cyrus Oguna stated that a multi-agency team is assessing the damage to infrastructure and undertaking repairs in collaboration with county governments, the Kenya Red Cross Society, the World Food Programme, and humanitarian agencies.
These efforts aim to provide food and non-food items to affected communities.
The flooding has affected 32 counties, with approximately 330 people adversely affected and over 17,000 displaced.
Additionally, over 11,000 livestock have been swept away, and an undetermined acreage of farmlands has been submerged, resulting in the destruction of crops of unknown value.
