On November 12, a 12-year-old girl visited her father at their home in Migori, only to be attacked and allegedly defiled while washing dishes.

Instead of the accused being arrested, the girl was taken into custody and held at the Isebania Police Station for six days.

According to Migori County MCA Susan Mohabe, the girl's detention was a ploy to interfere with crucial evidence in the case.

“Why was the girl detained for six days at Isebania Police Station after the ordeal? This was a ploy to interfere with evidence which would be crucial for the cases in court,” Mohabe said.

However, Kuria West Police boss Bernard Muriuki denied any wrongdoing, stating that attempts to take the suspect to court were thwarted due to lack of evidence.
