Moses Kuria Embroiled in BBI Report Debate ¶
Published on November 29, 2019, in Kirinyaga County, Moses Kuria, a Kenyan politician, found himself at the center of a heated debate with a female representative from Kiambu over the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
According to sources, Kuria suggested that the BBI report be discussed and ratified in parliament, while the female representative, Sabina Chege, disagreed, stating that the report should be subject to public scrutiny.
During the heated exchange, Kuria allegedly made derogatory comments about the female representative's attire, which sparked outrage and led to a public rebuke from Chege.
"I was shocked to hear a male MP make such comments about a female colleague's attire," Chege said in an interview with Citizen TV on November 3, 2019. "I would like to scold Moses Kuria for abusing the Kiambu woman representative. Your differences do not justify insulting her."
Chege's rebuke came after Kuria had previously stated that he did not believe in the BBI report.
As the debate continued, Kuria was accused of making personal attacks on the female representative, which further escalated the situation.
