On December 3, 2019, Visa International recognized Naivas as the top retailer with the highest number of card transactions in Kenya.
Naivas has seen a significant shift towards cashless payments, with over 39% of all transactions now being card-based.
The supermarket chain has an estimated 1,320 card swiping machines in its 58 outlets, making it a leader in the use of Visa-branded cards.
Naivas' chief commercial officer, Willy Kimani, emphasized the importance of adapting to changing consumer preferences, saying, "Kenyans increasingly prefer to use card and mobile payments for their purchases, necessitating that we move with the times and deliver seamless, speedy payment platforms that ensure they spend the least time at the till."
Visa remains in stiff competition with MasterCard for the country's growing market in card-based payments.
