As of Wednesday, motorists in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) and Kijabe Area will pay a minimum parking fee of KSh 400. This increase comes after the enactment of the Finance Act of 2019.
According to a notice from the Director of Parking Services, Tom Tinega, motorists will be required to top up their parking fees when migrating to zones with higher charges.
Previously, parking in the CBD cost KSh 200. The new fees will also apply to buses, which will now pay KSh 1000 per day.
Motorists parking in Zone II areas, including Upperhill, Westlands, Highridge, Ngara, Kilimani, Yaya Centre, Kangemi, and Embakasi, will pay KSh 200. Additionally, motorists in Community, Langata, Nairobi West, Muthaiga, Kayole, and Donholm will also pay KSh 200.
Motorists parking in other commercial centers apart from the two zones will pay KSh 100.
City Hall has also increased the cost of seasonal parking to KSh 7000 per private vehicle every month. However, motorists will pay less for longer periods, incurring KSh 18,000 for three months and KSh 55,000 annually.
