Kenyan singer Akothee made headlines this past weekend after collapsing on stage at the Luo Festival in Kisumu on Sunday morning.

According to her manager Nelly Oaks, Akothee was experiencing continuous fatigue since checking out of hospital last week.

Speaking to Mpasho.co.ke, Nelly Oaks stated, 'SHE (Akothee) IS RESTING. IT WAS THE CONTINUOUS FATIGUE SINCE SHE JUST CHECKED OUT OF HOSPITAL LAST WEEK ON THE SAME.'

Akothee herself spoke to Mpasho on phone, saying, 'I’m feeling better now.'

However, she added that she is struggling with insomnia, saying, 'I can’t just sleep at night. Even the sleeping pills are not working, I took two yesterday (Sunday) and was awake the whole night. My brain can’t stop working and my body is tired.'

Akothee has been making waves in the music industry, including becoming the first Kenyan artiste to be featured on an Italian international TV show, Confessione Reporter, where she talked about her Akothee Foundation.

Earlier this year, Akothee performed at a beach party in Italy, where she was paid KES 1.8 million, with half of the amount going to her charity.
