On November 17, a shocking incident occurred at Kariobangi North Estate in broad daylight. Rosemary Alungwa, a 46-year-old trader, allegedly attacked Asiko Mutubwa, a pregnant woman, over a Sh200 debt.
According to a police charge sheet, Alungwa had given Mutubwa a skirt valued at Sh200 to be paid in installments. However, Mutubwa took long to pay up, prompting Alungwa to visit her home to demand payment.
As court papers reveal, Alungwa 'grabbed the complainant, shook and plucked her plaited hair causing injury to her scalp. She further punched her belly despite the fact that she is pregnant.'
Mutubwa told the court that Alungwa 'beat me up and plucked my hair without any mercy.' It took the intervention of concerned neighbors to rescue Mutubwa from Alungwa's 'visibly physical and violent' attack.
Alungwa denied the assault, claiming she was 'fixed by the complainant after politely asking for my money.'
The court granted Alungwa a cash bail of Sh 5,000 pending hearing of the case on March 19, 2020.
