Published on December 2, 2019, a resident of Westlands, Shobna Shah, expressed her frustration over the stalled Ring Road project in Nairobi. Despite billions of shillings being spent on recarpeting roads, the results have been disappointing.
Shah pointed out that the General Mathenge Road, which was refurbished just five months ago, is now in shambles. The road's condition has been exacerbated by the closure of the parallel Eldama Ravine Road, causing traffic jams and making the potholes worse.
Shah's concerns are not isolated, as other residents have also reported issues with Kenya Power's billing system. Okumba Miruka, a resident of Siaya County, received excessive bills for his account, with one bill amounting to Sh5,790 and another to Sh7,512. However, his latest bill was a mere Sh46.
Meanwhile, the Kusi Ideas Festival, set to take place in Kigali, aims to facilitate cultural, political, and economic exchanges between East and West Africa. The festival's secretariat explained that the name 'Kusi' refers to a southerly monsoon trade wind that facilitated the movement of goods, people, and services between the regions.
However, not everyone is pleased with the state of Nairobi's roads. James Githinji claimed that the local companies responsible for constructing and repairing the roads have done subpar work, which has been exposed by the recent rains. He wishes that these companies could be blacklisted.
