The new rates, which were announced in a notice dated December 2, 2019, will see parking fees in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) increase to Ksh.400 per day, up from the previous Ksh.200.

According to the notice, buses will be charged Ksh.1,000 per day to park in the city, while private vehicle owners will be required to pay Ksh.7,000 for a seasonal parking ticket of one month, Ksh.18,000 for three months, Ksh.32,000 for six months, and Ksh.55,000 for one year.

The County Government has divided parking areas into three zones, with the City Centre and Kijabe attracting the highest parking rates of Ksh.400 per day. Other commercial centres, such as Westlands, Upperhill, and Ngara, will be charged Ksh.200 per day, while all other commercial centres will pay Ksh.100 per day.

“Kindly note that you will be required to top up the parking fee payment if migrating to a zone with a higher charge as will be applicable,” reads the notice.
