On November 29, 2019, a court in Kenya made a significant ruling in a case involving Dennis Itumbi, a well-known figure, and the mother of his child. The court ordered Itumbi to pay Ksh 20,000 per month as child support.
The ruling came after DNA tests confirmed that Itumbi is the father of a baby girl. The mother of the child had moved to court, claiming that Itumbi had absconded his parental duties. She also prayed that Itumbi provide a copy of his National Identity Card so that his name could be included in the child's birth certificate.
According to the court's ruling, Itumbi was also ordered to provide medical insurance and school fees for the child when she starts school. The matter is scheduled for a mention on December 18, 2019, where the court will confirm compliance.
It's worth noting that the mother of the child had initially requested Ksh 50,000 as monthly child upkeep, medical insurance, and school fees. However, the court ordered Itumbi to pay Ksh 20,000 per month pending the determination of the matter.
As reported by Mahakamani News, Kenya's top court reporting and crime coverage website, the court urged the parties to reach an out-of-court settlement on the matter.
