Published on December 2, 2019, a 17-year-old boy from Nanyuki High School was detained in Naivasha police station for further investigation into the murder of a 16-year-old girl.
The minor, who appeared before Naivasha Chief Magistrate Kennedy Bidali, did not take a plea. The magistrate, however, allowed the investigation officers nine days to conduct a mental check-up and gather evidence.
According to the police, the girl, Valarie Njeri, went missing on Thursday from her parents' posho mill, only to be found dead the following day with 26 stab wounds and her throat slit.
Police discovered traces of blood in the accused's room, and the family of the deceased has set Wednesday as the date of postmortem.
The mother of the suspect, Susan Warugu, revealed that they shared a meal with their son unaware that there was a body dumped under one of the beds.
