On a day when Eliud Kipchoge made history by becoming the first man to break the two-hour marathon barrier, Sir Mo Farah revealed he will return to the track to defend his 10,000 meters title at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Farah, Britain's most successful athlete, had set his sights on winning marathon gold in Japan, but a disappointing eighth-place finish in the Chicago marathon last month and Kipchoge's record-breaking performance in Vienna appear to have changed his mind.
"Next year, I'm going to be back on the track and I'm going to give it a go in the 10,000m," Farah announced. "Hopefully I haven't lost my speed but I will train hard for it and see what I can do. I'm really excited."
Farah, who has four Olympic gold medals to his name, will focus on the 10,000 meters next year before potentially returning to marathon competition.
