The 9th Kalasha Awards, held at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on December 2, 2019, celebrated the best in Kenyan film and entertainment, despite the heavy downpour that disrupted the event.
Guests and nominees, dressed by celebrated Kenyan fashion designers, received a warm welcome at the main dome, where the red-carpet show was relocated due to the rain.
Among the big winners was Pascal Tokodi, who took home the Lead Actor in a TV Drama show award for his role in the popular TV drama show Selina.
Other notable winners included Sarah Hassan, who was awarded the Best Actress in a Film award for her role in Plan B, and George Mo, who won the Best Lead Actor in a Film award for his role in Lost in Time.
ICT and Innovation Principal Secretary Jerome Ochieng praised the organizers and sponsors for their support, saying, "As I join you here for the 2019 edition of the Kalasha Film and TV Awards, I am amazed by the glamour I see here tonight, obviously an improvement of last year."
