This archive report was first published on 2 December 2019.

On December 2, 2019, a Cooperative Bank customer shared a concerning issue with Nyakundi Report. The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, highlighted the bank's appraisal system as a major problem.

The system, according to the customer, is unrealistic and unfair, with targets that are nearly impossible to meet. Female staff members who take maternity leave are particularly affected, as they are often ranked lower than their colleagues in the same department.

The customer questioned whether it is a crime to give birth and miss out on bonuses. They also expressed frustration with the bank's management, which they believe fails to appreciate employees' hard work.

As a result, the customer alleged that there is rampant theft by employees, particularly at the branch level. The bank's exceptional performance is often 'moderated' by management for unclear reasons.
