Everton manager Marco Silva has faced intense scrutiny following his team's 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday, but he remains confident in his players' commitment.

Despite the loss, which left Everton in 17th spot on 14 points, two points and one place above the drop zone, Silva pointed out that his team's performance showed they have not lost the backing of the dressing room.

“Nobody can say anything about their commitment, about their attitude or about their ambition for this game – it was clear,” Silva told reporters on December 1, 2019.

He added that it's only those who are not with the team daily who are not seeing how they are together in this fight, and the players are proving this.

With a daunting challenge ahead of them at Anfield, Silva said his side would go to Liverpool with confidence, citing their performance in recent games and last season as reasons for their optimism.

“It is our obligation as a club to (go with belief),” he said. “We know they are in good moment, but everything today and last season should give us confidence.”
