December 2, 2019, will be a day Brother Paul, a church pianist in Bomet Town, will never forget. It was the day his secret affair with a married choir member, Abigail, was exposed, and he was brutally beaten by her husband, Raphael.

According to eyewitnesses, Brother Paul had been flirting with Abigail for a while, and their affair had become an open secret among other choir members. However, the musician seemed to have thrown caution to the wind and continued to engage in 'amorous congresses' with the woman, even sneaking into her house when her husband was away.

'The charade had gone on for a while, until a fortnight ago when the woman's husband, acting on a tip-off, cornered the two love birds in his house and savagely unleashed terror on the man,' said Ernest Kibet, a neighbour.

Abigail's husband had become suspicious of her activities, particularly after she developed a habit of getting home late, claiming she had gone for piano lessons. Matters got worse when Abigail began acting in an unusual manner, staying up late chatting on her phone and allegedly short-changing her husband of his conjugal rights.

When confronted about her relationship with Brother Paul, Abigail downplayed any romantic involvement, accusing her husband of being irritatingly jealous and insecure. However, her husband's patience finally ran out when he returned home to find her and Brother Paul fondling on the sofa.

It was at this point that the enraged husband attacked the duo, raining kicks and blows on them. The violent and noisy commotion attracted curious neighbours before some intervened and rescued them. Brother Paul was later relieved of his duties at the church, and Abigail has been avoiding church meetings following the embarrassment.
