On Saturday, Nigerian Afro-pop artiste JoeBoy performed at the inaugural Nairobi Festivals (Nai Fest) at the Ngong Racecourse. However, his appearance was marred by a cancelled radio interview at Nation FM the previous evening.
According to Nation FM presenters Anto Neosoul and Oga Obinna, JoeBoy cancelled the interview, claiming he was tired. The two presenters expressed their disappointment, recalling instances when they had to work despite feeling fatigued.
“He said he cannot make it because he was tired,” Obinna said. Anto added, “Apparently guys, JoeBoy is fatigued, yaani the days we been fatigued and actually played his songs here on our Station.”
The presenters also called out singer Kagwe Mungai, who stood them up during a scheduled interview last week. Anto said, “Another person who played us this week is Kagwe Mungai, he decided, ‘Bro the interview was this week? Ati I didn’t know,”
The duo advised artists to inform the host of their cancellation in advance to avoid inconveniencing listeners. They lamented that it was hard to support artists who made it difficult to be supported.
“Our biggest agenda at Nation FM is to support our own but the things you guys make us go through!,” Anto lamented.
