Kris and Nicola Lead Classic Safari Rally

On December 1, 2017, the Safaricom East Africa Classic Safari rally entered its second day at Tanga Beach Resort in Tanzania, with Austria's Kris Rosenberger and his German co-driver Nicola Bleicher in the lead.

Rosenberger and Bleicher navigated their Porsche 911 to accumulate six hours and 53.57 seconds for the overall win, with former World Rally champion Stig Blomqvist and his co-driver Jorgen Fornander in second place with a time of 6:54.27 seconds.

Kenya's Tejveer Rai and Gavin Laurence, driving a Porsche 911 under the Kabra Sugar racing team banner, took third place with a time of 7:09.05 seconds.

The rally saw some of the fastest driving in the competition, with extremely smooth roads from the start to the finish.

On the second day, the rally saw a mix of fast open roads with blind drifts, big brows, and fast-flowing bends, with Onkar Rai and his co-driver Gareth Dawe in a Porsche 911 taking the lead after winning the second stage with a time of 51.31.0.

Wales' Osian Pryce and his co-driver Sale Furniss in a Ford Escort took second place in the second stage with a time of 52.09.0, while Kenya's Ian Duncan and his co-driver Anthony Nielson in a Rover Vitesse took third place with a time of 52.19.7.

The third and final stage of the day saw the cars face stiff challenges with twisty roads and blind brows, with Italian crew Eugenio Amos and Roberto Mometti in a Porsche 911 taking the stage win with a time of 30.51.4.
