Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men's Premier League champions bounced back from a 82-69 loss in Game One to crush Ulinzi Warriors 92-69 in the second game of their playoff semi-final series on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at the Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa.
Ulinzi's Eric Mutoro led the scoring with 29 points, but KPA's Ariel Okall responded with 26 points to spark his team's dominant display.
The Dockers dominated three quarters, with the soldiers winning only one. KPA started strong with a 25-15 win in the first quarter, but Ulinzi took the lead in the second quarter with a 28-17 win.
However, KPA regrouped after halftime and won the third quarter 31-13, before sealing the win with a 19-13 victory in the final quarter.
After the game, KPA head coach Samuel Ocholla praised his team's execution, defense, and teamwork, saying, 'Today our execution, defense and team work was on point, bench rotation and technical part of it was good. Now we pick on the positives rectify on the negatives as the series moves to Nairobi.'
Ulinzi Captain John Washika vowed to come back stronger, saying, 'It was a tough loss but we live to fight another day. Now we focus on the remaining three games in Nairobi. We correct on our small lapses then we take it to the bank.'
The two teams will meet again for Games Three, Four, and Five in Nairobi next week, with the series set to conclude at the Nyayo Gymnasium.
