Major Peter Mugure, a senior officer in the Kenyan Air Force, is fighting for his life after a desperate attempt to end his life in a holding cell on Friday, December 1, 2019.
According to police, an officer conducting a routine check discovered the major unresponsive and immediately alerted his colleagues. Several officers provided first aid before rushing him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The incident has left investigators stunned, with Jacob Musau leading the probe to determine the reasons behind Major Mugure's actions. Just days prior, the major had appeared in court, where police requested additional time to hold him pending the conclusion of investigations.
Major Mugure's family has been at the center of a tragic saga. In late November 2019, the bodies of his estranged wife, Joyce Syombua, and their two children, Shanice Maua (10) and Prince Michael (5), were discovered at Makaburini in Thingithu, approximately 9 minutes away from the Laikipia Air Base. The children were found on top of their mother's lifeless body.
Detectives from the Serious Crimes Unit of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have taken over the investigation into the gruesome murder, which has sent shockwaves throughout the nation.
