On December 1, 2019, police in Nandi County arrested an 18-year-old girl who allegedly strangled her newborn baby to death following a quarrel with her father.

The incident occurred at the girl's parents' house in Singore Sub-location, where the three-week-old child was found lying in the sitting room.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as Faith Jepkosgei, claimed to have committed the act due to constant quarrels with her father over her pre-marital pregnancy.

The girl, a Class 7 dropout, was detained at Kabiyet Police Station pending arraignment, while the child's body was moved to Kimbilo Funeral Home.
