Kenya Dominates Africa Swimming Championships

Kenya's Team Kenya emerged victorious at the Confederation of Africa Swimming (Cana) Zone III Championships, held at the Kasarani Aquatic Stadium from December 1, 2019.

With a total of 2,447 points, Kenya secured the top spot, leaving Uganda in second place with 2,392 points and Tanzania in third with 2,044 points.

The competition, which attracted nine countries, also featured South Africa and Zambia, who secured 1,540 and 1,386 points respectively.

Kenya's dominance was evident in the women's competition, where they won with 1,180 points, beating Tanzania and Uganda to second and third places.

However, Uganda took the top spot in the men's contest, winning with 1,421 points, followed by Team Kenya in second place with 1,143 points and Tanzania in third with 865 points.

Kenyan swimmer Ivan Hart made a notable achievement by winning the men's 13-14 category with 150 points, beating Settumba Paulsen from Uganda and Zambia's Liam Rumbali with 134 and 126 points respectively.

Hart's impressive performance included wins in the Boys' 14 and under 200m butterfly, individual medley, 800m, 400m, and 200m freestyle events.

He also guided his teammates Joshua Masaka, Sabbah Leunoto, and Johari Masinde to victory in the boys' 14 and under 200m freestyle relay.

Kenya's team of Jabali Chemirmir, Kirunda Kunyiha, Stanley Ndegwa, and Tabuka Bifowli won the Boys 15 and Over 200m freestyle relay, beating Sudan and Zambia.

Hosts' team of Imara Bella Thorpe, Kenda Maye, Nasimiyu Khatundi, and Juhaina Islam Ali won the girls 15 and over 200m freestyle event, beating South Africa and Tanzania.

Kenya Swimming Federation (KSF) president Patrick Muyah was elected as one of the committee members during the Confederation of Africa Swimming (Cana) Zone III Bureau elections.
