December 1, 2019, will be a day that Benik Afobe and his family will never forget. The Arsenal legend's two-year-old daughter, Amora, has tragically passed away after a severe infection.
According to Afobe, Amora was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately, she suffered a number of serious complications. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, Amora passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
"It is with an extremely heavy heart that the Afobe family have today confirmed the devastating news that their first child, their beloved daughter Amora, 2, passed away late on Friday," Afobe said in a statement.
"Amora was taken to hospital for treatment after unexpectedly developing a severe infection. Unfortunately, she then suffered a number of serious complications and despite doctors doing absolutely everything that they possibly could, Amora passed away peacefully with the love of her family by her side," he added.
The entire family has been left totally devastated and heartbroken, and they would like to ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.
Afobe, who is currently on loan at Bristol City from Stoke, started his career at Arsenal, where he came through the academy with the likes of good friend Jack Wilshere.
After loan spells at Huddersfield, Reading, Bolton, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday, and MK Dons, he joined Wolves before completing his Premier League dream at Bournemouth. He re-joined Wolves two years on the south coast before making a £12million switch to Stoke, where he has made 50 appearances.
