Published on December 1, 2019, Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho has attributed Victor Wanyama's lack of game time to match fitness issues.

Wanyama, the Harambee Stars captain, has been enjoying his time off the pitch amidst consistent transfer speculation that he is about to quit Tottenham.

However, his off-field activities have not translated to the pitch, where he has struggled with injury concerns and has completely missed out on three matchday squads since Mourinho took over the reins at the London club.

According to Mourinho, Wanyama is a good player who needs to play, but he is not yet match fit. 'He is fine and has no problems at all. But one thing is to be fit and another is to be match fit, match intensity, and match pace,' Mourinho told Football London.

Tottenham is currently placed fifth in the English Premier League standings after 14 rounds of matches.
