On International World HIV and AIDS Day, December 1, 2019, a significant event took place in Samburu County, where over 200 boys from the Turkana community underwent circumcision at Rangau village.
The boys, who were mostly candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations, benefited from a program sponsored by Shades of Hope, a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in the county.
According to the beneficiaries, the program has helped their parents save on circumcision fees, which they could not afford otherwise. As Bran Lempoko, a beneficiary, stated, “This program has helped our parents who could not afford to get us here and pay for our circumcision fees.”
