On Saturday night, a shocking incident unfolded in Nairobi as two police officers attempted to rob an Uber driver. The officers, Constable Shukri Galgalo of Quarry Police Post and Abdikadir Daiwo of Muthaiga Police Station, allegedly requested a ride on the cab hailing app, but their intentions were far from innocent.
According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the two officers forced the driver to sit at the back seat and commandeered the vehicle towards Eastleigh instead of Pangani as they had requested on the app. However, their plan was foiled when the vehicle crashed and stalled at Kilimanjaro roundabout.
With their escape plan thwarted, the officers attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by the authorities. They are currently in lawful custody awaiting arraignment on Monday.
