On November 29, 2019, Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, who is among the six nominees for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, asked Kenyans to vote for him.
However, it has emerged that the voting link provided by Kipchoge does not work in Kenya and other African countries, with a message on the BBC Sport website reading, 'This vote is not available in your location.'
Many Kenyans have taken to social media to express their disappointment and frustration at being denied the right to vote, with some questioning the move by BBC Sports.

As of December 1, 2019, the BBC Sports website still shows that voting is not available in Kenya, with many Kenyans calling for an explanation from the BBC.
