On Saturday, December 1, 2019, a shocking incident unfolded in Nairobi when two police officers allegedly attempted to rob an Uber cab driver.
Constable Shukri Galgalo of Quarry Police Post and Abdikadir Daiwo of Muthaiga Police Station reportedly requested the service of the cab through the Uber app before turning against the driver.
According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the two officers forced the driver to sit at the back seat and drove the vehicle towards Eastleigh, contrary to their original request.
Fortunately, the vehicle crashed and stalled at the Kilimanjaro roundabout, forcing the officers to attempt to escape on foot before they were quickly arrested.
The officers are currently being held at police custody awaiting arraignment in court on Monday.
