December 1, 2019, will be a day to remember for Reagan Otieno, an 18-year-old footballer who has just been included in the Harambee Stars provisional squad for the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Uganda.
Reagan, who cleared high school last year, has been making waves in Kenyan football with his impressive performances for KCB in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
His big break came when Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi included him in the 26-man provisional squad on Saturday morning, and just hours later, he proved why he could be the next big thing in Kenyan football by scoring a brace as KCB thrashed Kariobangi Sharks 5-2 at Kasarani.
"This is my debut season in the KPL and earning a call-up to the National team is something I have always dreamt of. I never thought it would come this soon to be honest but all the same, I am very happy with the development and will give my best in training and in matches if given the chance," Reagan told Nation Sport.
Reagan credits his coaches at KCB, led by Zedekiah Otieno, for his progress, saying they have been very helpful and supportive. He also praises his teammates for their encouragement.
KCB coach Zedekiah "Zico" Otieno says Reagan's call-up to the national team is well-deserved, citing his hard work and impressive performances for the team.
