Senegalese President Macky Sall has gifted 2,000 acres of land to American-Senegalese singer Akon for his ambitious project, Akon City, a futuristic city in Africa.

According to an interview with Nick Cannon, Akon announced that construction of the city began in March this year, with a 10-year building plan in stages.

Located near Dakar, the capital city of Senegal, Akon City will be a 100% crypto-based city, powered by solar energy and featuring its own air terminal for residents and tourists.

As Akon noted in the interview, "It's a 10-year building block so we're doing it in stages. We started construction in March and stage two is going to be 2025."

Notably, Akon has expressed his belief that his cryptocurrency, Akoin, could be the "savior of Africa," citing its potential to bring power and security back to the people and allow them to advance themselves.
