December 1, 2019, marked a somber day in Siaya as Eric Oloo, a 41-year-old journalist, was laid to rest. The burial was attended by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and Ugenya counterpart David Ochieng', who led mourners in demanding justice for Oloo's family.
According to neighbours, Oloo had been cohabiting with senior police officer Sabina Kerubo, attached to the Ugunja Police Station, for 14 months. The postmortem report revealed that Oloo was hit in the head and stomach by a blunt object.
MPs Wandayi and Ochieng' pledged to ensure that justice was served for the family, with Wandayi stating, 'I have been looking for the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, I hope I will get him on Monday. We need him to step up investigations into Oloo's killing.'
Two suspects, Victor Ogolla and Franklin Lutta, were arraigned in court and will remain in police custody for 11 more days to allow the prosecution more time to complete investigations.
